Megadeth: History
Four decades of fury, chaos and glory (1983–2026)
Megadeth is one of the most influential and enduring thrash metal bands, protagonist of a trajectory marked by musical intensity and personal turbulence. Founded in 1983 by guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine after his abrupt departure from Metallica, the band forged a relentless sound that placed them alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax as part of the "Big Four" of the genre. Over more than forty years, Megadeth has released 16 studio albums (with a 17th and final one on the way), sold around 38 million records worldwide and endured countless lineup changes, addictions, internal fights and reconciliations.
