Megadeth Announces 2027 European Tour with Black Label Society and Testament

Megadeth has unveiled the European leg of their multi‑year farewell tour, titled "Breakout: Hibernation Of The Nations," set to begin on March 9, 2027 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The 24‑date run will feature opening acts Black Label Society and Testament, marking the first time the thrash legends will share a full‑scale European circuit with the two bands since 2019. The announcement, released on February 28, 2024 via Blabbermouth.net, confirms that the tour will span March and April, covering major venues in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. The tour kicks off at the SSE Arena Belfast on March 9, 2027, followed by stops in Dublin, London, Manchester, and Glasgow before heading to continental Europe. In Germany, Megadeth will perform at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on March 20 and the Olympiahalle in Munich on March 22. French fans can see the band at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on March 24, while Italy’s date is scheduled for March 27 at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan. The Spanish leg includes a concert at the WiZink Center in Madrid on March 30, and the tour concludes in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on April 5, 2027. Frontman Dave Mustaine said, "We are thrilled to bring the final chapter of our farewell tour to Europe, and sharing the stage with Black Label Society and Testament makes it even more special." ("Estamos emocionados de llevar el capítulo final de nuestra gira de despedida a Europa, y compartir el escenario con Black Label Society y Testament lo hace aún más especial.") Guitarist Kiko Loureiro added, "Playing these historic venues again feels like coming home, and the energy from our fans is unmatched." ("Tocar de nuevo estos lugares históricos se siente como volver a casa, y la energía de nuestros fans no tiene comparación.") The European dates are part of a broader farewell itinerary that began in 2023 with shows across North America and South America. Megadeth announced earlier that the tour will culminate with a final performance in their hometown of Los Angeles on December 15, 2027, after which the band will officially retire from touring. The band’s management confirmed that all shows will adhere to local health regulations and that tickets will go on sale on March 5, 2024, via the official Megadeth website and authorized ticketing partners. Fans have responded positively, with many noting the rarity of seeing Testament, a fellow thrash pioneer, on the same bill. The collaboration is expected to boost ticket sales, especially in markets where both bands have strong followings. Industry analysts predict that the European leg could generate upwards of €15 million in gross revenue, reinforcing Megadeth’s status as one of the most commercially successful metal acts of the past four decades. Overall, the 2027 European tour represents a significant milestone in Megadeth’s storied career, offering longtime supporters a chance to witness the band’s final live performances alongside two of thrash metal’s most respected contemporaries.
