Dave Mustaine Says Megadeth Has Two Unreleased Songs from Final Album

Megadeth vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine disclosed that at least two tracks were left off the band's final studio album, "Megadeth," released on January 23, 2026. Mustaine explained that these songs belong to a larger pool of unfinished recordings accumulated over Megadeth's 43‑year career. However, with the band slated to disband due to his diagnosis of Dupuytren’s contracture—a hand condition that makes guitar playing painful—he does not prioritize revisiting the material. "If I could play old songs," he said, "why wouldn’t I want to focus on new songs instead?" The decision aligns with his retirement announcement made in August 2025, where he expressed a desire for the Grammy‑winning thrashers, formed after his expulsion from Metallica in 1983, to end on their own terms. The final album "Megadeth" marked a commercial milestone, becoming the band's 17th studio release to top the US Billboard 200 chart.
