James LoMenzo
“JLo”
James LoMenzo is an accomplished New York bassist whose career spans from 80s glam metal to classic heavy metal, with two separate stints in Megadeth over more than a decade. Born in 1959 in Brooklyn, LoMenzo rose to fame in the 1980s as a member of White Lion, achieving multi-platinum albums and world tours. His style combined melody and technique, with clear bass lines in ballads and powerful ones in rock tracks. After White Lion split in 1991, LoMenzo remained active, playing with high-profile artists: Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde (Pride & Glory, Black Label Society), Slash (Snakepit), and other rock and metal legends. In 2006, Dave Mustaine invited him to join Megadeth, replacing James MacDonough. LoMenzo brought experience and an old school touch to the bass, recording 'United Abominations' (2007) and 'Endgame' (2009), where he shines on tracks like 'This Day We Fight!'. On stage, James sang backing vocals and stood out for his gray hair and beard, earning the nickname 'JLo' and the affection of fans. In 2010, David Ellefson returned to Megadeth and LoMenzo stepped aside with professionalism. In the following years, LoMenzo remained active: played with Starship, formed the cover supergroup HAIL!, and appeared on the reality show 'The Amazing Race' (2014). After Ellefson's departure in 2021, Mustaine called LoMenzo back, who was reaffirmed as Megadeth's official bassist in 2022. Now, he brings all his experience to the stage, showing that his energy remains intact. His presence in Megadeth embodies the connection between generations of metal, being both a stable pillar and a bridge to rock tradition. With James LoMenzo in the lineup, Megadeth maintains a perfect balance between modern power and the classic spirit that defined 80s metal.
